Scott County Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service during the school closure of (March 3oth April 15) Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Children must be present to receive a meal. Meals will be provided at the sites as follows:

March 30-April 15

Nickelsville Elementary: (Mon. & Wednesday) 10:00am -12:00pm


Dungannon First Baptist Church: 10:30am -11:00am

Shoemaker Elementary: (Monday & Wednesday) 10:00am -12:00pm


Hilton United Methodist Church: 10:30am -11:00am

Harvest Time Worship Center Ft. Blackmore: 10:30am-11:00am

Oak Glen Baptist Church Yuma 10:30am-11:00am


Rye Cove Intermediate: (Monday & Wednesday) 10:00am -12:00pm


Thomas Village Baptist Church 10:30 am-11:00am

Monday: 2 breakfast and 2 lunches will be provided

Wednesday: 3 breakfast & 3 lunches will be provided

All meals going off-site will be shelf-stable

Hot meals or meat sandwiches, as well as shelf-stable foods, will be available at Nickelsville Elementary, Shoemaker Elementary, and Rye Cove Intermediate


*Delivery may be provided if no transportation is available*

 *********Teachers have assigned review, remediation, and enrichment activities electronically or created paper packets for students.  Students, please use your Chromebooks to open Google Classroom or other electronic notifications for your classes.  If your class does not use Google Classroom or other forms of electronic notifications, then you can stop by the school from 8:00-2:00 Monday and Wednesday.  Please call the school before you come and someone will meet you outside.  If you have questions, please call Gate City Middle School at (276) 386-6065.  Also, the public library has WiFi and is available for student use (even outside the library in a car).  To access the public WiFi, please type guest for the username and library for the password.  Thank you.

Food City School Bucks
You can earn free cash for our school by linking your Food City Value Card to GCMS by using PLU #40920. This can be done online or at checkout at any Food City location. Shop, Scan, and Save to support our school! You can register for 2 schools.  Cards must be registered every year.  If you haven't already, please stop by Food City and register your Food City Value Card. This year we received a check for $2,061.00. Thank you Food City.

School Safety

All visitors to GCMS are required to use the front entrance to the building and must report to the school office upon entering. A video/buzzer entrance system is used, and all visitors must identify themselves and the reason for their visit.
